Beth Clark’s art is inspired by her love of nature and animals. She is happiest viewing a sunset, cloud gazing, sitting by the sea, or watching birds. She strives to evoke a sense of peacefulness in her work as well as capturing the personalities of the animals she paints.

Although she is a primarily self-taught artist, her informal art education began at an early age with her mother, a former art teacher. During her college years visual arts fell by the wayside in favor of a musical education. Professionally she has worked as a private piano teacher as well as having had the opportunity to teach in the Music Departments at East Carolina University and Chowan University. She currently serves as the Director of Music and Organist at First Christian Church in Washington, N.C.

During her time at Chowan, she had the opportunity to study drawing with art faculty member Jeff Whelan. In the last several years, she has also attended various painting workshops and classes given by very fine local artists including Glenn Nelson and John Groesser.

Through her membership with Greenville Brushstrokes she has had the opportunity to meet many fellow artists who are quite accomplished. Not only has she learned much about painting from her association with these talented individuals, but she has had the opportunity to participate in numerous shows at various venues. These venues include A’tavola Market and Café in Greenville, N.C., the Kinston Community Center for the Arts, and the Greenville Brushstrokes Show and Sale which takes place twice a year at First Christian Church in Greenville, N.C.

She is a member of Arts of the Pamlico and submits work for exhibition in their annual Fine Arts Show as well as other opportunities that arise at the Turnage Theater. In 2018, she had work chosen for exhibit as part of the Wild and Wonderful Menagerie show at the Contemporary Art Exchange.

Her favorite medium is oil paint; however, she works in acrylic and oil pastel as well. She paints pet portraits by commission and also paints wood slice Christmas ornaments with birds, snowmen, and other subjects upon request. If you are interested in a commission or an ornament you can reach her at bethclarkarts@gmail.com .
